Job Purpose (Significance of the Role & Objectives)
The battery pack engineering team works on multifaceted structural, electrical, and thermal problems. You have to design and develop the components and assemblies for production, testing, POC and drive the safety aspects of highly integrated batteries and have a major influence on product direction. You will be responsible for the design and execution of battery testing to explore novel materials and new design concepts and ensure Pravaig becomes a leader in battery technology.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Take responsibility for the structural, electrical, and thermal systems of the HV battery.
- Development of Lithium-ion energy storage solutions for new innovative products.
- Contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle from initial concept through design, development, verification, and through-life support.
- Preparation for design reviews and release of all 3D data, and drawings with part required specifications.
- Contribute to problem-solving, analytical skills, knowledge of battery modules & pack design, and material selection and characterizations.
- Take ownership of parts of the Battery Pack components, completing every aspect of component engineering development from concept to production.
- Integrate mechanical designs with high-voltage electrical systems in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Provide engineering analysis for the impact of different components on the
- overall performance of the battery pack.
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and general mechanical engineering analysis.
- Experience in battery design and development; 3-D CAD experience preferred.
- Great written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate well with management, peers, and suppliers.
- Flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity, should be comfortable working in a quickly changing environment.
- Expertise in design for the following production processes: injection molding (plastics), extrusion (plastic or aluminum), metal stamping, die castings, sheet metal, and weldments.
- Experience and capabilities for DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DFA.
- Ability to interpret engineering/manufacturing drawings with good knowledge of GD & T
- Working knowledge of various materials used for Battery Packaging & Electric Vehicles.
- Results-oriented and dedicated with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities.
- Awareness of engineering standards and automotive regulations.
